ADD YOUR VOICE TO THE RACE!

Sojourn Theatre's THE RACE was created with a commitment to and a belief in the power of inquiry. We wanted to ask each other questions about leadership, democracy, values, and how we are with other human beings in relation to power and change. With audiences, we've generated a massive list of questions. Here we hope to continue that generative act by inviting you to add your questions as well. The questions you offer will be shared anonymously with this online community via this page and future presenters of THE RACE.

Examples of questions to be answered in 10-15 seconds:

-Is diplomacy a sign of weakness in a leader?

-What leader in history would you be for one day?

-What kind of music do good leaders listen to?

-Why would you follow someone?

-What about being a leader is frightening?

Examples of questions to be answered in 45-60 seconds:

-How do leaders know when they've gone too far and what should they do when they realize they've gone there?

-How do people choose leaders wisely?

-Does a leader's appearance affect their leadership?

-How should a leader apologize?

-What happens when you're asked to follow a leader you don't support?

What makes a good question?

Good questions can be silly or serious, specific or broad, philosophical or practical -- a wide range of question types helps to create a dynamic performance. Alongside diversity, there are some other qualities that make a good leadership question for THE RACE:

- Easy to understand the first time (no overly complex words or structure)

- Commonly understood terms (no specialized knowledge needed)

- Open-ended (could be answered in many different ways)

- Neutral wording (no opinions couched in the question)
