Witness Our Schools

Witness Our Schools was a two-and-a-half-year documentary theatre and community dialogue project exploring public education in Oregon. Over 500 interviews, a 65-minute highly physical show, a statewide tour, our town hall dialogue events, and a special performance at the Capitol for the State Legislature — all became a part of the state's challenging conversation around equitable, fundable policy.

Sojourn now tours a four-person, staged reading and dialogue version of this production around Oregon, and around the country. It's available for school-district events, conferences, in-service days — any event intended to provide space, context and facilitation for conversation about the complex issues which now face our state, and our nation. So far, the piece has been seen at education conferences in the Midwest, theatre festivals in California, at a neighborhood event with the Oregon Symphony, and at a business lunch where local leaders were discussing how they can get involved.
