2002 Production History

A two-year partnership with The Lima Arts Council to explore issues of race, class and leadership in Allen County, Ohio through hundreds of community workshops and interviews led to THIS original production called Passing Glances: Mirrors and Windows in Allen County.

7 Great Loves workshop
In May of 2002, Sojourn hosted Ping Chong in Portland. Chong (frequent collaborator of Sojourn artistic director Michael Rohd) led master classes attended by over 50 local artists, gave a lecture at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts attended by hundreds, and helped initiate rehearsals and development work on what would become 7 Great Loves. In late June, Portland opened up its process for a weekend of public performances and audience collaboration. We performed work in various states of development; we described how we make the work; and, we invited audience members onstage to close the evening by giving us their own love stories. This event drew a hundred people a night, and was held at the theatre space of our community partner Concordia University in NE Portland.
