2000 Production History
Rhinoceros (Virginia)
Sojourn tackled this great Ionesco text with a commitment to scale and motion on a bold canvas provided by designer Randy Ward. The production, staged in Virginia soon before the company moved to Portland, examined themes of community, complicity, and prejudice. Trapeze, ladders to the sky, and mirrors everywhere. Board member Charles Lattimer created a Jean that sticks in one's memory, and the sound score by David Wedin was the first time the company's work began to develop its notion of aural density.
