Residencies and Workshops

Opportunities for Portland-area youth of all backgrounds and experience levels to develop skills, engage in dialogue, and build community through group artistic process.

Tailored to the needs of each partner school and organization.

May include elements such as performance and collaboration techniques, interviews and research work, issue-based theatre exploration, and new material generation, among others.

Afield Program

Mentor-based playwriting residencies at alternative schools and residential treatment centers for high-school-aged youth.

Pairs each teen one-on-one with a professional theatre artist who leads him/her through the basic tenets of playwriting, using the young person’s own thoughts and feelings as a guide.

Culminates with professional actors performing the students’ plays in an assembly or theatre setting for participants’ peers, families and/or the general public.
